Day Four

Brandy and I began our day with a walk in the Ogden Botanic Gardens, which parallels the Ogden River and has a well-traveled nature trail. I was happy to see many roses still in bloom, and I was surprised to find unusual plants around many corners.

We happily hiked up the trail for an hour or so.  It felt so good to just get out and walk. The sun was out, but not too hot.  It was a great way to shake off the long hours of driving.

I don’t believe I have ever seen such exuberant clouds!  The skies approaching and overhead now are huge. They seem to sit on the ground and cover the cerulean skies.

Along with clouds here in Ogden, a strong wind blows. It’s very unpleasant to walk in the wind, but walk we do. From early in the morning until twilight, we walk.

Ogden is an old town. A railroad town. The old train station is a thing of beauty. And there is a Mormon presence and a temple with Moroni atop the spire. And, I don’t believe I have ever seen such pre-holiday merchandising zeal.

Still, it has its own personality—kinda rough and ready.  Blue jeans are the attire of choice.

Off to dinner with Nick’s family. Great sushi.  Yes!  In Ogden, UT. It was great to catch up with the guys and enjoy a meal together. It has been a while since we have all shared a meal.

My brother called me. He is being treated now (in Farmington, NM) to get his health issues handled. Not sure yet what’s going on.

We are heading out tomorrow for Moab. It should be a relatively trouble-free drive. The weather there is fine now. I hope to have time to visit Delicate Arches.
